Project title: Advancing AWareness and Response Education for Neurological Disorders in Montenegro – AWARE-ME

Country: Montenegro

Anchoring institution: Montenegrin Neurological Association

Dates running: 2026-2028

Status: Ongoing

Project description

AWARE-ME is a 3-year education initiative to strengthen how common neurological disorders are recognized and managed across Montenegro, with a focus on frontline care.

The project trains GPs, emergency medical workers, and nursing-home caregivers to spot early warning signs of conditions like stroke, migraine, Alzheimer’s disease, and Parkinson’s disease, and to act quickly with first aid, early treatment steps, and faster referral to neurology when needed.

Led by neurologists from the Montenegrin Neurological Association, AWARE-ME aims to improve outcomes and create lasting, system-level improvements in brain health support through nationwide workshops, printed and digital tools, and online learning, built on Neurotorium resources.

About Neurotorium’s Clinical Education Grants

Neurotorium is offering Clinical Education Grants to support non-profit educational projects aimed at strengthening clinical competencies within the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of psychiatric and neurological disorders through educational activities aimed at healthcare professionals.

Applicants can request up to 100,000 DKK (approximately $15,000 USD) per year for a duration of one to three years. The budget can only include direct costs. Projects must incorporate Neurotorium’s educational resources, be anchored within established non-commercial organizations (such as universities, hospitals, or NGOs), and demonstrate potential to positively impact clinical practice.
