Project title: Trends in Applied Neuroscience and Clinical Practice for the Global South
Country: Argentina
Anchoring institution: Austral University
Dates running: 2024-2027
Status: Ongoing
Project description
This project will deliver a modular course for medical students that connects core neuroanatomy to the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying clinical symptoms and disease. Using Neurotorium’s platform, supported by recent scientific literature, the course explores how neurons and networks process information – covering key brain circuits for learning, reward and prediction, alongside major conditions such as stroke, neurodegenerative and psychiatric disorders.
Delivered as an annual in-person and online programme, taught in Spanish, and open to the entire Latin American and Caribbean community. The course has the goal of supporting more accurate assessment and a deeper understanding of brain-related pathology by strengthening students’ ability to reason from cellular and molecular mechanism to clinical presentation.
About Neurotorium’s Clinical Education Grants
Neurotorium is offering Clinical Education Grants to support non-profit educational projects aimed at strengthening clinical competencies within the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of psychiatric and neurological disorders through educational activities aimed at healthcare professionals.
Applicants can request up to 100,000 DKK (approximately $15,000 USD) per year for a duration of one to three years. The budget can only include direct costs. Projects must incorporate Neurotorium’s educational resources, be anchored within established non-commercial organizations (such as universities, hospitals, or NGOs), and demonstrate potential to positively impact clinical practice.
