The association between anxiety and cardiovascular disease (CVD) has been long recognized.3 One meta-analysis of mitral valve prolapse and anxiety disorders, including 14 studies (1,146 people), found the prevalence of prolapse in people with panic disorder was 27.2%, compared with 9.2% in the general population.2 This translated to a relative risk of 2.469.2
