Early and accurate diagnosis of stroke, and distinguishing stroke type, is a key part of good stroke care.2 Distinguishing between ischaemic and heamorrhagic stroke can be achieved using computed tomography (CT) scanning, however CT scanners are not always available in hospitals around the world.2 In the absence of imaging techniques, some studies such as this one have attempted to identify clinical characteristics that typify ischaemic compared with haemorrhagic stroke.2
