Stroke is a medical emergency that requires immediate emergency care.1 For instance, the use of tissue plasminogen activator is more effective the earlier it is administered, and generally should be used within three hours of the onset of stroke.1 The type of stroke a person has experienced, and the presence of stroke syndrome, can profoundly change the treatment that is required, as outlined on the slide.1
