Unlike some other diseases, PD can be managed with a range of safe and effective pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments that allow patients to live with their disease for several years after diagnosis.1-3 However, therapies that can prevent or delay the onset, or slow the progression of the underlying neurodegenerative disease process, remain elusive.3-5
