This slide shows the cost of various mental disorders in Europe in 2010 (27 EU countries at the time plus Switzerland, Norway, and Iceland), using data gathered from a systematic review of the published literature.1 The anxiety disorders included in the review were agoraphobia, generalized anxiety disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, specific phobias, and post-traumatic stress disorder.1 Available data suggest that the anxiety disorders with the highest total (direct and indirect) costs in Europe are post-traumatic stress disorder and panic disorder, followed by social anxiety disorder, generalized anxiety disorder and agoraphobia.1
