Anxiety disorders are among the most common types of mental disorder; however, due to methodological differences, estimates of the prevalence of anxiety disorders in populations around the globe vary widely across large-scale studies. This slide deck introduces both the epidemiology and burden of anxiety disorders.

This slide deck was developed by Prof. Dr. Brenda Penninx, Professor of Psychiatric Epidemiology, Department of Psychiatry of Amsterdam UMC (location VUmc), Amsterdam, The Netherlands, and Prof. Dr. Katharina Domschke, MA, MD, PhD, Full Professor and Chair of the Dept. of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy, University of Freiburg, Germany, and Adjunct Professor at the Medical University Vienna, Austria, in collaboration with Cambridge (a division of Prime, Cambridge, UK).
