Although constricted by some limitations, this review and meta-analysis identified many primary studies of the genetic epidemiology of anxiety disorders, and found evidence that panic disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, and specific phobias have a degree of heritability.1 This analysis was limited to studies of people with anxiety disorders, rather than symptoms of anxiety.1 The authors speculate that analyses such as this one focused on the broader group of people with anxiety symptoms might be provide evidence of the genetics of anxiety in the context of the full continuum from anxiety symptoms to disorder.1
