Bipolar disorder is a highly heritable condition, as are many other psychiatric disorders, such as schizophrenia.1-3 Decades of research into the genetics of disorders such as bipolar disorder and schizophrenia have identified and corroborated several genetic loci implicated in these disorders.3,4
