Migraine is a complex, chronic, paroxysmal (characterised by sudden recurrence, or intensification of symptoms), multiphase, neurological disease, with episodic attacks that typically include head pain and an assortment of neurological symptoms.[Dodick, 2018; IHS, 2018] Although complex, some of the genetics and biology that underlie the symptoms of migraine are becoming clearer.[Dodick, 2018] This greater understanding has led to mechanism-driven therapies that are helping patients today.[Dodick, 2018]
