In this study, respondents of the AMPP survey were categorised by frequency of headache attacks.[Buse et al., 2020] Of the total 11,603 eligible respondents:[Buse et al., 2020]
- 67.7% (7,860/11,603) experienced low-frequency episodic migraine (0–3 headache days per month)
- 17.7% (2,051/11,603) experienced moderate-frequency episodic migraine (4–7 headache days per month)
- 7.8% (898/11,603) experienced high-frequency episodic migraine (8–14 headache days per month)
- 6.8% (794/11,603) experienced chronic migraine (≥15 headache days per month).
Compared with people with low- or moderate-frequency episodic migraine, respondents with high-frequency episodic migraine were more likely to experience moderate-to-severe depression, based on the 9-item Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9), OR: 1.87 (95% CI: 1.61, 2.18), p<0.001.[Buse et al., 2020]
