The Eurolite project investigated the interictal (between attacks) burden of migraine.[Lampl et al., 2016] For people with migraine, the mean time spent in the interictal period was 317 days per year, whilst for people with tension-type headache the mean time spent in the interictal period was 331 days per year.[Lampl et al., 2016] As shown on the slide, the survey highlighted a substantial burden of migraine and tension-type headache – approximately one third of respondents were reluctant to tell others of their headaches, and one in ten felt that family and friends, or employers and colleagues did not understand their headaches.[Lampl et al., 2016] In terms of cumulative burden, 11.8% of people with migraine thought that they had performed less well in education because of headaches, whilst 5.9% reported reduced earnings, and 7.4% reported that their careers had suffered because of headaches.[Lampl et al., 2016]
