Schizophrenia is a chronic brain disorder that affects more than 21 million people worldwide. (WHO, 2014; NIMH, 2009) Schizophrenia is listed among the top ten leading causes of years lived with disability (YLDs) in men (ranked fifth) and women (ranked sixth), accounting for almost 3% of global YLDs (WHO, 2008).
Schizophrenia has an impact on almost all aspects of a patients’ life (Lehman et al. APA, 2010).
