This meta-analysis studied the cumulative risk and rate of healthcare system use by users of illicit drugs.[1] Although there was heterogeneity across the results, people who use illicit drugs were found to be at several times greater risk of emergency department admission and hospitalization than the general population, as shown on slide.[1]
