Mean total annual costs per person with episodic or chronic migraine

The International Burden of Migraine Study (IBMS) quantified the costs of migraine treatment across five countries in Europe: the United Kingdom (UK), France, Germany, Italy, and Spain.^{[Bloudek et al., 2012]} As shown on the slide, per-patient costs were highest in the UK, and lowest in France and Germany.^{[Bloudek et al., 2012]} Chronic migraine was associated with greater costs compared with episodic migraine.^{[Bloudek et al., 2012]}
