The Eurolight study was a European survey that gathered data from patients with headache in Austria, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Spain and the United Kingdom.[Katsarava et al., 2018] Of the 9,247 respondents, approximately a third – 3,466 (37.6%) – were diagnosed with migraine.[Katsarava et al., 2018] The results of the survey highlighted the under-use of preventive migraine treatment across Europe.[Katsarava et al., 2018] At the same time, an analysis of the Global Burden of Disease (GBD) study showed that migraine and headache disorders were leading causes of years lived with disability, and that for individuals aged 15–49 years, migraine is the leading cause of disability for women.[Steiner et al., 2018; GBD, 2016; GBD, 2017] This juxtaposition has led some in the field to ask whether politicians responsible for health policy around the world will now take notice of this global health crisis.[Steiner et al., 2018]
