Schizophrenia shares genetic variants with most other psychiatric disorders.1,2

A large GWAS meta-analysis showed that schizophrenia shares extensive common genetic risk with other psychiatric disorders, including bipolar disorder, MDD, ADHD, OCD, anorexia nervosa, and ASD.2 The findings support the idea of overlapping biological mechanisms and a highly interconnected psychiatric spectrum.2

Data are from the Brainstorm Consortium GWAS meta-analysis of 265,218 cases and 784,643 controls across 25 common brain disorders.
