Cost of different disorders and diseases in Europe

This image shows the cost of various mental disorders in Europe in 2010 (27 EU countries at the time plus Switzerland, Norway, and Iceland), using data gathered from a systematic review of the published literature.¹ The anxiety disorders included in the review were agoraphobia, generalized anxiety disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, specific phobias, and post-traumatic stress disorder.¹ Available data suggest that the anxiety disorders with the highest total (direct and indirect) costs in Europe are post-traumatic stress disorder and panic disorder, followed by social anxiety disorder, generalized anxiety disorder and agoraphobia.¹
